Family Weekend and Permit

Welcome friends and family to the most anticipated event of the semester: Family weekend. For many, it's their first time seeing their family since August, and for others, it means spending quality time with their Brother Rat's family. This weekend brings as much joy and happiness as any furlough. FRIDAY Starting at 0900, parents are welcome to join their cadet in the classroom and experience the rigorous academics of VMI. From 1100 to 1330, there is lunch in Crozet Hall. Cadets eat free, and guests will have to pay $10.25 for anyone over the age of 5. From 1300 to 1430, the Reserve Officer Training Corps will have an open-door session at Kilbourne Hall. From 1830 to 2000, the VMI Commanders Jazz & Glee Club will have a Concert in Memorial Hall. At 2000, the Theater Club will perform "The Real Inspector Hound" at Marshall Hall, Gillis Theater. Adults will need to pay $10, students and senior citizens will need to $5, and those under 6 enter free. SATURDAY At 0800, the VMI Men's & Women's Rifle team will compete against Mt. Aloysius/North Georgia in Kilbourne Hall. From 0830 to 0930, the Barracks will be open for friends and family to visit and observe the Spartan conditions of our residence. From 1030 to 1115, the Corps of Cadets will conduct a parade on the parade deck. From 1100 to 1300, there is lunch in Crozet Hall. Cadets eat free, and guests will have to pay $10.25 for anyone over the age of 5. At 1300, the VMI Rugby team will battle against Radford University at the North Post Drill Field #3. From 1300 to 1315, the Corps will march down to Alumni Memorial Field. From 1300 to 1700, VMI Keydet Football will play against the Citadel at Alumni Memorial Field. At 2000, the Theater Club will perform "The Real Inspector Hound" at Marshall Hall, Gillis Theater. Adults will need to pay $10, students and senior citizens will need to $5, and those under 6 enter free. SUNDAY From 0900 to 1000, there will be a Catholic Mass in Memorial Hall. From 1000 to 1100, there will be light refreshments in the foyer of Memorial Hall. From 1100 to 1200, there will be a Collective Protestant Service in Memorial Hall. At 1400, VMI Women's Soccer will play Chattanooga at Patchin Field At 1400, the Theater Club will perform "The Real Inspector Hound" at Marshall Hall, Gillis Theater. Adults will need to pay $10, students and senior citizens will need to $5, and those under 6 enter free. PERMITEach cadet should be aware that there is a permit for Family Weekend sent out by the regimental seventh staff captain. If signed out on it, you must return to barracks at 2400(TAPS) on Friday, at 2400(TAPS) on Saturday, and at 2030 on Sunday. PARKING & TAILGATINGIf you wish to park on the parade deck, you must enter through Jordan's Point. Parking will open at 0700 and will cost $40 per car. There is a restriction to one 10' x 10' tent per vehicle. The field will close at 1900 and all cars must be removed by then. SHUTTLE SERVICEOn Saturday from 0900 to 1700 there will be shuttle buses with stops at Moody Hall, Memorial Hall, Crozet Hall, and Cameron Hall. During the football game they will be stationed at Cameron Hall to return guests back to the parade gound.
