VMI Athletics Carry High Hopes Into 2023!

&emsp;&emsp;The VMI athletic programs displayed its competitive grit throughout 2022 and look forward to continuing that effort into 2023. &emsp;&emsp;The VMI Basketball team entered the Winter Furlough coming off a series of four games that saw the team go 3-1 with wins over the United States Naval Academy and Radford University. However, over break the team competed in seven contests dropping all seven while being outscored 559-469. They look to bounce back with two matchups the first week for the Corps returning to Post. With Mercer visiting on Thursday and then playing host to the classic rival Citadel on Saturday, the Keydets seek to cement their dominance in the new year. &emsp;&emsp;From other sports around post, the VMI Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams had impressive outings at the VMI Invitational, which saw a personal record set by Sophomore Caroline Fiorillo '25 in the women's 1000m run; Gretal Shank '25 with a 3rd place finish in the women's 1000m; Alex Fiorillo '23 and Andrew Hirneisen '24 in the men's 3000m; Nick Brown '25 in the 400m; followed by Herbert Brooks '23 and Andrew Granger '24 in the shot put.
